Liberia Project Information: Construction
The Need
We have seen first-hand the starving, the naked, and the dying orphans in Africa. We work to see these children are given enough food each day, a roof over their heads, a bed to sleep in, clothes on their backs, clean water as well as some education.
We are committed long-term to this and will partner with others to make this a reality. Our first ORPHANGE PROJECT in Liberia was accompolished in our work with Mercy Ships in 2006.
Orphanage Renovation
We renovate orphanages to bring them up to accepted standards. The goal is to reach the level necessary for other in-country partner organizations to adopt the orphanage, and take on the ongoing physical needs the children have. Our staff have already been able to organize orphanage reconstruction in five other nations, and have the strong desire to match our experiences with willing hands to make a difference where it is needed most. Difficult Circumstances
Most non-profit organizations in Liberia have their hands tied when it comes to serving the least-developed homes for kids. Kids in the poorest conditions cannot receive help because local aid groups concentrate their efforts on approved orphanages. When we can get these substandard children's homes up to standard, the children get the care they need. This includes putting in wells, latrines/showers, kitchen facilities, beds, new roofing, walls and flooring where needed, mosquito screens on windows, as well as bars for security. The goal is to bring these orphanages up to government certified standards. This is done with hired, local workers and church teams, with the oversight and direction of our full-time staff living in the country.
A girl's dorm is transformed, and life is made more bearable. The Liberian government recognized our efforts and requested help for over seventy substandard orphanages. If you can't go, consider sponsoring an entire orphanage for $50,000.
